The Truth About the Old Macujo Method vs. Mike’s Macujo Method

A clear first-person account of how the two processes differ, why the original process became outdated, and how the modern system was developed.

Many people online use the name “Macujo Method” without explaining the difference between my old Macujo Method and Mike’s Macujo Method. They are not the same process, and I developed them for very different hair-testing conditions.

Why the Two Methods Are Different

I created the old Macujo Method in the late 1990s and early 2000s to help people pass hair-follicle drug tests for marijuana. Hair-testing technology was far less advanced at that time, which made low to moderate levels of THC easier to address.

As laboratories significantly improved their testing methods, I spent years researching, testing, and refining a new approach. I designed those improvements for higher levels of THC exposure and for other substances, including cocaine, opiates, methamphetamine, prescription drugs, and alcohol markers.

I developed the updated system in 2016 and introduced it online around 2017 as Mike’s Macujo Method. It is the modern version of my old process, created specifically for today’s stricter testing standards and more complicated situations.

How the Old Macujo Method Began

In the early 2000s, customers who were heavy or daily THC users were beginning to fail their hair tests when they used ClearChoice shampoo by itself. I worked with my friend Felice, a chemist, to develop what became known as the Macujo Method. At that time, every order of ClearChoice shampoo included a printed insert containing the Macujo Method instructions.

Around 2005, I wrote an online eBook titled Tips, Tricks and Home Remedies to Pass Any Drug Test. I sold it on nearly 70 of my pass-drug-test websites. It was intended for people who did not have enough time to order products and wait for delivery.

The eBook included home remedies made from common household items, including:

• recipes for homemade detox drinks;
• mouthwash for saliva tests;
• synthetic urine; and
• the Macujo Method for hair tests.

In 2006, I launched the eBook across all my websites for $35. Customers could purchase it at www.drug-test-book.com and receive access in approximately three minutes.

Around 2006–2007, I began seeing the Macujo Method posted on online forums. I was never sure whether the instructions came from my eBook or from the printed inserts included with ClearChoice shampoo orders. At that point, I did not care that the instructions had become public. I hoped people would continue modifying the process and eventually discover a method capable of removing every type of drug from the hair. I continued following the forums to see whether anyone succeeded.

Why the Old Macujo Method Became Outdated

By 2015–2016, hair testing had become much more common. Customers who had used cocaine, methamphetamine, and opiates began calling me for help. At that time, nothing worked other than my old Macujo Method—and that process worked only for low to moderate levels of THC.

The old Macujo Method is not reliable for high THC levels or for other substances. It acts as a temporary one- to two-day masking system rather than permanently removing the contamination. In practice, THC can return within hours or approximately 24 hours, although the masking effect may last one to three days in some cases.

The same limitation applies to commercial one-step shampoos such as Zydot Ultra Clean, Stinger, Foli-Kleen, and ClearChoice Ultra Klean. These products act only as temporary masks for low levels of THC. The THC can return within hours or, at most, about one day.

Developing Mike’s Macujo Method

During 2015 and 2016, I began communicating with Felice again and asking him for new ideas. I carefully experimented with customers who had approximately three weeks before their test dates.

To make sure the participants were honest and had a genuine interest in the results, I worked only with people who purchased at least one hair test from me. I then provided each participant with two or three additional tests at no charge. Felice supplied certain ingredients for these trials.

In 2016, I came out with Mike’s Macujo Method. It worked so well that everyone involved—including Felice and me—was ecstatic. Customers were lowering their levels with every wash, and the new method was permanently removing the drugs rather than temporarily masking them.

Unlike my old Macujo Method, Mike’s Macujo Method was developed to remove all drugs from the hair. Once you pass, you should remain clean unless you use drugs again.

Creating Mike’s Macujo Required Washes Calculator

Mike’s Macujo Method is not a one-size-fits-all process. Different people require different numbers of washes based on their substance-use history, their hair, and the amount of time available before the test.

After collecting approximately two years of customer-testing data, I created Mike’s Macujo Required Washes Calculator. The calculator gives personalized recommendations rather than assigning the same cleansing schedule to everyone.

The calculator considers factors such as:

the type of substance involved;

the date of last use;

the frequency of use during the previous 90 days; and

other relevant personal circumstances.

Using those factors, the calculator estimates the number of cleansing sessions needed for that person’s situation.

The Built-In Safety Margin

I intentionally added a safety margin of one to three extra washes beyond the estimated minimum. This buffer helps protect customers who may be unsure about how much they used or who may not follow every direction perfectly.

The additional washes also help account for individual differences, including:

how carefully the method is performed;

hair length, density, and condition;

differences in product usage; and

other personal factors that may affect the results.

Based on the customer results I collected, the success rate is better than 99% when customers use authentic Macujo Aloe Rid® Shampoo, follow Mike’s Macujo Method correctly, and complete every wash recommended by the calculator.

The Online Launch and Rapid Growth

I introduced Mike’s Macujo Method online around 2017. After I launched the calculator, business began booming, and positive reviews arrived daily from customers who completed their required washes and passed.

This had a major effect on competing websites in the industry. They were losing business because they did not have a method capable of addressing modern hair tests and substances other than low levels of THC.

I had already recognized that the industry was changing and believed hair testing would eventually become the most common form of drug testing. That is why I spent so many years creating a method that could work under stricter testing conditions.

The Growth of Online Scams and Fraudulent Sellers

Beginning around 2018, competitors started claiming that their shampoos would work with the Macujo Method. By then, the name had become extremely popular. I did not object to people discussing the old Macujo Method because that outdated process no longer worked except for low levels of THC.

However, many sellers began using the name to market fake shampoos and counterfeit products. They continued promoting the old “Macujo Method” because they could not legally use “Mike’s Macujo Method,” which is protected by copyright and trademark. The copyright registration number is TXu 2-327-355.

These sellers claim that their shampoos work with the Macujo Method. A strong clarifying shampoo may help the old method temporarily mask low levels of THC, but it will not remove other drugs.

Many sellers also falsely claim to possess the original Nexxus Aloe Rid formulation. That shampoo was able to open the hair cortex and help clean out drugs because it contained a proprietary formulation. Macujo Aloe Rid® Shampoo is the only product made with the original proprietary shampoo formulation.

What We Discovered in 2019

Around 2019, we began receiving calls from customers who said they had followed the Macujo Method but still failed. We discovered that websites and eBay sellers were offering fake shampoos while claiming their products worked with the method.

We researched these companies and contacted the sellers by telephone when a number was available, or by email when it was not. We asked whether customers would pass after using their shampoos with the Macujo Method. We specifically asked about cocaine, opiates, and ecstasy. Every seller we questioned said yes, even though we knew those claims were impossible for the products they were selling.

Impersonators also began purchasing domain names containing the word “Macujo” and putting “Macujo” on their shampoo labels. Their customers would fail unless they had only low THC levels, and many of those customers would then call me for help.

Copyright and Trademark Protection

In July 2021, I was advised to apply for copyright protection. In January 2022, I filed for copyright and trademark protection.

Copyright protection is important, but a trademark is the only effective way to prevent fraudulent sellers from using the Macujo name to mislead customers. The trademark dispute has continued for almost four years. It has been long, drawn out, and expensive.

While fighting to protect my brand and innocent consumers who may not recognize these scams, I have also written articles and posted warnings across the internet. I hope people find this information before it is too late.

I receive calls almost every day from customers who say they were scammed by one of these websites. These sellers are risking people’s careers, families, probation status, and futures simply to make a sale. Some do not provide a telephone number. When they do respond, they may say whatever the customer wants to hear.

The History of the Aloe Rid Formula

The original Nexxus Aloe Rid line was discontinued in November 2010, and the older Aloe Rid trademark expired in 2013. I later applied for the rights and now own the Aloe Rid trademark.

After Nexxus discontinued the original product, I partnered with the manufacturer to recreate the exact proprietary formula needed for the method to be effective. No generic or knockoff shampoo uses this precise formulation.

I am the sole owner of the Aloe Rid trademark and the original Nexxus Aloe Rid formulation. Using a substitute puts your results at serious risk.

How to Identify the Official Product and Website

Macujo.com is the official website for Mike’s Macujo Method. I am also the owner of authentic Macujo Aloe Rid® Shampoo and its original proprietary formulation.

The authentic shampoo must match the product shown on the official website. This became even more important in 2024, when another seller added the word “Macujo” to a Toxin Rid bottle specifically to mislead customers.

Fraudulent sellers frequently promote fake “Nexxus Aloe Rid” bottles, imitation detox shampoos, and products labeled “compared to Aloe Rid.” These are not the authentic formula required for Mike’s Macujo Method.

Today, many online sellers encourage people to save a few dollars by buying an imitation. Before doing that, ask yourself:

Is your career, your family, your probation, or your future really worth risking just to save a few dollars on a counterfeit shampoo?

The Most Important Difference

The difference between my old Macujo Method and Mike’s Macujo Method is simple:

The old Macujo Method	Works only for low to moderate levels of THC and acts as a temporary mask. THC may return within hours or approximately 24 hours, with the masking effect sometimes lasting one to three days. It is not reliable for high THC levels or other drugs.
Mike’s Macujo Method	Was developed for high THC levels and other drugs. It must be performed with authentic Macujo Aloe Rid® Shampoo and the number of washes recommended by Mike’s Macujo Required Washes Calculator. Based on my customer data, the success rate is better than 99% when all required washes and directions are completed. Once you pass, you should remain clean unless you use drugs again.

That is why it is essential to understand which method you are reading about, use the correct product, and follow the personalized number of washes recommended for your situation.
