The Catalyst Center has updated its web-based state data pages on coverage and financing of care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) for each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

On the state pages, you will continue to find up-to-date information for:

  • Demographics
  • Economics
  • Child health services
  • Factors influencing health insurance coverage
  • Experience with the system of care for CYSHCN
  • The Title V program

Data from many sources combine to tell the story of CYSHCN

The Catalyst Center state pages now include the most recent data on selected topics from:

  • The 2011-12 National Survey of Children’s Health
  • The Kaiser Family Foundation
  • The U.S. Department of Education
  • The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

and more. All of the sources represented in the state pages were carefully selected to provide you with easy-to-access data that you can rely on for accuracy.

Keep up with Health Care Reform in your state

To help you stay on top of what’s happening in your state and the nation, the state data pages now incorporate a new health care reform section covering state health insurance market (Exchange) decisions, benchmark plans, and approved health home state plan amendments. Also included are new data indicators on oral health care for CSHCN, percentage of CSHCN in families with income below 200% of the federal poverty level, and underinsurance for children.

What’s in it for you?

As always, you can look up the latest data for your own state, and compare data from two states and the nation in a single, printable table.  You can also display detailed source information and tips for interpreting specific data.

Our goal at the Catalyst Center is to support your efforts to improve coverage and financing of care for CYSHCN in your state.  The online state pages are an important tool to help.
