Webinar: Children and the Medicaid Health Home State Plan Option
In early December 2011, the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) and the Catalyst Center at the Boston University School of Public Health co-hosted a webcast on the health home provision (Section 2703) of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
One of the most challenging aspects of implementing health/medical homes for all patient populations is sustainable funding, particularly for care coordination activities. Section 2703 offers a new Medicaid State Plan Option that will help provide funding for a comprehensive system of care coordination for Medicaid enrollees with chronic conditions. This is promising, but many stakeholders have questions about its application to children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). For this webcast, AMCHP and the Catalyst Center assembled a panel of experts on medical home implementation, federal Medicaid policy and state leadership in Title V and Medicaid partnership to help answer these questions and encourage planning for including CYSHCN in state adoption of Section 2703.

What IS Section 2703? Catalyst Center Assistant Director Beth Dworetzky blogs about the answer to that question and why it is important to children and youth with special health care needs in a blog posting at the Spark (Catalyst Center blog).
