Florida Developmental
Disabilities Council Research Project – Health Care System for Adults
and Children with Developmental Disabilities in Florida
This project focuses upon analyzing the services and benefits provided
to adult individuals with developmental disabilities in Florida.
The objectives of this project include:
- Identifying
the gaps in services for adults with developmental disabilities,
particularly as they transition from pediatric services to adult
services;
- Identifying
the gaps in benefits available through different funding sources
for adults with developmental disabilities in Florida;
- Examining
the relevant regulatory, legislative and policy issues; and,
- Developing
products that the Council can use to work with the legislature,
consumers, advocates, Medicaid, Florida Developmental Disabilities
Program Office and other key partners to begin to advocate for
a more comprehensive set of services for adults with developmental
disabilities in Florida.
We have already
conducted our first Advisory Council meeting and are working towards
identifying gaps in services and benefits at this time.
Key
staff for this project include Carol
Tobias, M.M.H.S. and Karin Haberlin, M.A.
