The Health and
Disability Working Group (HDWG) is a research, technical assistance
and training center of the Boston University School of Public Health.
Previously known as the Medicaid Working Group, our goal is to improve
the delivery of medical, behavioral, and support services to people
with a broad range of disabilities and chronic illnesses. The HDWG
promotes the exchange of information and ideas between policy makers,
providers, and consumers to support the delivery of the best possible
services in the most effective manner.
We also assist
providers and policy-makers in identifying needs and implementing
practices or programs that address these needs. HDWG research activities
include policy and primary research as well as program evaluation.
In addition, we convene conferences, training programs, and workshops.
Our interests
span the spectrum of disability and chronic illness, and include
medical, behavioral health, support, and long-term care services.
Our primary focus is on low income and disenfranchised populations.
We have a special interest in service delivery systems that address
the needs of individuals with multiple chronic conditions, and minority
populations. Our staff is diverse, and we have the capacity to conduct
research in multiple languages.
