Funding opportunity for CBOs in the South

Community-based organizations operating in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida (specifically Northern Florida), Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee are invited to apply for grants through the Southern REACH (Regional Expansion of Access and Capacity to Address HIV/AIDS) Initiative. The National AIDS Fund, with support from the Ford Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, will award 20-30 grants, ranging from $20,000 – $75,000, in three categories: 1) Organizational Capacity Building; 2) Programmatic Capacity Building; and 3) Policy Advocacy.

New CDC supplemental surveillance report on HIV infection by race/ethnicity

A new supplemental surveillance report was recently published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The report, entitled Cases of HIV Infection and AIDS in the United States and Dependent Areas, by Race/Ethnicity, 2002–2006, complements the information in the 2006 HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report by presenting data on HIV and AIDS diagnoses stratified by race/ethnicity.
